Screenwriter with HIV racked up thousands in debt by pretending to be dead brother
A gay screenwriter has spoken out about how he took on his dead brother's identity to outwit credit card companies and lead a life of excess after an HIV diagnosis.
Mark Olmsted, who's originally from New York but lives in Los Angeles contracted HIV, in the early 1980s.
Considering the disease to be a death sentence and recovering from the effects of losing his older brother Luke to the virus, Mark pretended to be his sibling for financial gain, but as the years passed the elaborate scheme started to unravel.
